- Walking in the Scottish Borders
- The Scottish Borders region covers an area of approximately 1800 square miles (4600 sq km). The population is only about 100,000 with the largest towns, Galashiels and Hawick, having about 16,000 and 15,000 inhabitants respectively. It is easy to see from these figures that their is plenty of open space; and where there is space, there is always good walking. There is no better way to find out about a place than by walking round it, and with over 25 walks to choose from this is an excellent way to explore the Scottish Borders.
